Much of the discussion on laggards, or crusty old curmudgeons, or whatever,
is based on an enviable ability to know the future. "What one fool can do,
another can," is a quotation that inspires me. So let's let everybody who
wants to predict the future have a go at it. To start the ball, I'll go to
Jane Healy and her 1990 book "Endangered Minds." There she quotes a
line from the much respected Forbes Magazine that said, "In the end it
is the poor who will be chained to the computer; the rich will get teachers."
