Apologies to Andrew and Bob for the inacurracy in the Second Summary and thanks to Andrew for the clarification. My intention was to summarize Andrew's post in which he said, "While intending to refute Cuban's assertion that it is the social, cultural context of teaching that is resistant to change, Bob really confirms it when he acknowledges that teachers have '...worked out the methods that are best suited to achieve their goals'." Bob did indeed refute Cuban's premise of trenchant school culture in his posting.
My statement in the Second Summary was, "Andrew states that Bob while asserting Cuban's premises of a change-resistant school culture indicts teachers who have'...worked out the methods that are best suited to achieve their goals.' Andrew asks, "Whose goals currently determine what a student experiences? Not the student's!"
Muhammad B.
