Richard
No more so than in the real world where people in any cohort are rarely at
the same stage. Look at most workplaces or families.
I teach in a number of modes, one of which is continuous entry (any day
of the year that the school is open), competency based (you don't graduate
until you show competency - although you can drop out) trades training.
I use a cooperative learning model to build groups with a variety of
abilities and knowledges into working entities for learning and
development.
There are times that people work individualistically as well.
It is VERY FLEXIBLE.
