CONFERENCE AGENDA

How can educators and policymakers gauge the effectiveness of expensive and
ever-changing technology investments? ICLT 2000 is aimed at educators,
researchers, and policymakers; it includes presenters from Australia,
Canada, England, New Zealand, and the United States. Featured presenters
include:

* Shirley Alexander of the University of Technology in Sydney, on an
evaluation of information technology projects in Australian higher education

* John Bailey (Pennsylvania), Anita Givens (Texas), and Tim Best (Ohio), on
how states can leverage technology funds to support educational priorities

* Stephen Ehrmann of the TLT Group, on findings about the effectiveness of
technology in teaching and learning in higher education

* Kathleen Fulton of the University of Maryland, on the relationship
between teachers' pedagogical beliefs and their use of technology

* Margaret Honey of the Center for Children and Technology, on technology
as an element of educational change

* Lew Solmon of the Milken Exchange, on findings about the impact of
technology on student achievement in West Virginia

* Harold Wenglinsky of the Educational Testing Service, on the relationship
between educational technology and achievement in mathematics

* James G. Williams of the University of Pittsburgh, on the findings of a
random sample of technology use in 250 Pennsylvania K-12 classrooms.

CONFERENCE LOCATION

The conference will be held at the new Tuttleman Learning Center at Temple
University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Temple University is minutes
away from downtown Philadelphia, renowned for its history, cultural
activities, restaurants, and nightlife. The conference is co-sponsored by
the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Global Learning Consortium.

CONFERENCE REGISTRATION

Early registration fees are $245 for academic, government, and non-profit
attendees and $345 for corporate attendees. Early registration closes
January 24, 2000. Registration will close at 300 participants; less than
fifty seats remain.
