I would like to comment on Dennis R. Nelson's statement:
"We seem to fear religious discussions. Consider that even an agnostic
or atheist has basic believes. Consider that many forms of scientific
inquiry are posited and much of what we call science is taken on faith
(we cannot prove what we have not seen ourselves in our lifetimes and
even what we see is limited to our perspectives). Thus religion is simply
another science, or science is simply another religion."
First, I don't think that most of us "fear" religious discussions but I for one think they would be
pointless in this forum. Religion is not something to be debated since
1. Any statement made, pro or con, is bound to mortally offend someone. Then the person who has been so
offended will wish to strike back at the offender...
2. Religion is a matter of personal belief.
Second, religion is not a science. In science, nothing is taken on faith for long; eventually,
"beliefs" are either verified or relegated to the "interesting ideas that didn't work" file.
