The similar tactics are preparedness and access.

Whatever the depth and breadth of the transactional distance, whatever
the medium (human or otherwise) for assistance, each tactic involves
the learner's decision to engage a medium able and available to meet the
learner's need.

That we can control the learning is an illusion. That, if the learner
allows, we can limit or promote the learning through preparedness and
access, is the lesson.

The learner will approach the mediums we offer, in large part, based on
prior experiences with other mediums.
