Maybe they mean that totality is the context of that which you see as an
open inquiry? Can it be open if the context for expansion in some sense is
not the totality?:-) I have not read them so I do not know but if we go
back to Derrida then it is the totality (some use here the word globality)
against which systems of differences are established and given
significance. This of course does not mean that totality needs to be
understood as totalitarian or as uniform and closed systems. On the
contrary. Because totality is open, this is a true challenge to education
how to make the contexts for students' inquiry open and hence not closing
and predetermining their answers.
