Hello IFETS colleagues:
In introducing the topic of transactional distance I am looking for
experience and expertise that goes far beyond mine. I am simply
intrigued by the ways in which we seek to diminish the distance between
ourselves as teachers and our students. It has been the prime objective
of educators who wish to be more than repositories of information.
Interestingly, a colleague recently informed me that his daughter is
following an acclaimed MBA in which there is no seminar nor any tutoring
for most of the coursework. The interactivity must occur between the
student and the textbook, because that is all she gets until the exam!
I'd like to add a couple of references that were sent to me by an IFETS
member who is particularly interested in this topic:

I look forward to following the discussion!
