Subject: [IFETS-DISCUSSION:929] Conference on Video and Videoconferencing

Announcing The First DIVERSE International Conference on Video and
Videoconferencing in Further and Higher Education. July 2 - 4, 2001,
University of Derby, England.

Video in education is resurgent following technological developments
which are enabling more diverse use of video and television in
educational contexts - more cost-effective production and editing,
off-air recording licences, video streaming, digital storage,
interactive television, easier multipoint conferencing, convergence
on Web protocols and the 'one box' access to TV and the Internet.
These and many more developments are finding real applications,
particularly for distributed learning.

We believe this conference is the first to seek to bring together
experience of video in all its uses in post-16 education in order to
help achieve a better understanding of how the technology/pedagogy
relationship is being developed across a range of contexts.

The conference will be both a showcase and a critical forum on all
aspects of video in education - through plenary and themed parallel
sessions. There will be a pre-conference selection of hands-on
workshops focussing on a few of the recent major innovations.

More details and an email form for expressing interest in
contributing or participating are available at:
