Subject: [IFETS-DISCUSSION:420] re Role of the principal

Dear colleagues
First of all thank you for your
contributions and especially M.Betz for his
insightful summaries. The server was down for a brief
period so my apologies if you had trouble posting. It
is apparent that a lot more research needs to be done
in this area. We need answers to the hard questions.
It is to important to allow schools to 'drift' along.
Principals cannot afford to become modern day
'Luddites' or their students may, as Maralyn Parker
(1999) suggests, become part of the 'techno-coated
Dark Ages'. Support needs to be given (as has been
mentioned by several contributors) by authorities to
principals as they support their staff and students
along the 'Yellow Brick Road' into the Twenty First
Century.
            Regards Des Wilsmore
