Would someone please tell me where I can get a copy of this study. I am
planning on doing something similar in my dissertation. I would like to use
this as a reference. My study will be looking at discussions held on
nutritition weight management websites. I will be looking at the differences
in the number of the processes of change messages in sites that are self-help
vs dietitian moderated.

Thanks.

Greetings Kathleen Warren!
        Kathleen states that
"As educators, we need to define what the "quality learning" is that
we are
aiming for and teach students how to judge both the communication of
their
peers and their own communication for level of quality aimed at. For
example, in one study completed a few years ago, we looked at quality
as
defined and measured schematically against=20 Bloom's Taxonomy of
Educational Objectives (1956). Such a retrospective analysis is time
and
labor intensive, but the result can teach us how to structure
instruction in composing communication of different
sorts
and levels (if you subscribe to Bloom's and other learning theorists'
notion
that knowledge and learning is hierarchical) so that students can
learn to
analyze their own communication before they press the "send" button.
Without
such instruction, students (and some faculty as well) are likely to
comment
on a peer's on-line statements, response to an assignment, or musing
with
the almost valueless comment "I agree." or "Good job." or "You have
covered
        all the points needed," etc."
