I would even be happy to agree that you (and I) are
"interacting" with the author of the book (certainly as
strongly as a student intereacts with a lecturer most of
the time).
In a very similar way, the player of a computer game
"interacts" with the author of that game (even more
strongly than with the author of a book).
The social relations that tie societies, cultures,
tribes, families, networks, etc. together are
wonderfully complex and dynamic. Learning how to make
the most of these interactions is one of the more fun
aspects of this whole enterprise.
