Welcome to the discussion about Technology-based Learner Interfaces.
Please review the pre-discussion paper that has been posted on the IFETS
site and this listserv. My intent is that the paper will foster a
discussion and future potential collaboration for the research and
development of more effective learner interfaces that could be
implemented in the classroom.
I am looking forward to our discussion over the next few days. To start
the discussion I have reposted the initial questions from the discussion
paper below.
- Considering the critical issues discussed earlier, what is the
potential for collaborative efforts using existing technology to design
and deliver a widely diffused technology-based learner interface that
could be used by teachers to design highly-interactive learning
environments, engaging the learner, and assessing learning?
- What would the research and/or development framework be if we were to
expect that this learner interface would: enable the teacher to easily
(e.g. without high end programming knowledge) construct
highly-interactive learning environments using appropriate instructional
and learning strategies; engage the learner through a
computerized, but familiar world, where he/she uses inquiry, discovery,
and self-directed learning; and enable the school to build a networked
database of best-practices modules based in subject areas and specific
learning topics, providing an opportunity to overcome issues of teaching
quality?
