Well I would like to think that maybe it is not the technology that helps
educational change and achievement , if it does at all, but the integration
of the technology with the learning enviroment, the lessons and the
applications.
I see a lot where technology does the same thing as without technology except
they use a word processor. Is that progress- it depends how it is used.
If you let students just copy information off the internet because the
assignment calls for 25 pages not matter how it is garbage that is not
learning in a way that technology helps.
But if you produce a crossword puzzle, newsletter, webpage or some other
different product you may be producing a difference.
I also have a pet peeve how "engaged " is learning. I have found engaged with
technology many times is a waste of time and is far from a learning
experience (via my research with simulations).
When you plant kids down in front of computers to help them improve the test
scores what are they really learning?

and education model http://ada.lesley.edu/faculty/flescher/team1.htm
The word 'engage' is what Jean Luc Picard says for the Enterprise to go
somewhere- it should not be used to indicate what students are learning with
computers and technology
