Dear All

You may find it useful to have a look at the Competence Frameworks for Online
Tutors developed by the Institute of IT Training at
http://www.iitt.org.uk/c-onltutor.htm

I also recently attended a workshop organised by Lancaster University on
developing competences for online teachers - lots of really interesting
discussion, including around the differences between Instructional designers,
tutors, moderators ... I believe there will be some publications from this
workshop, but don't know timescales.

Another related project that I am working on in collaboration with Heriot-Watt
University relates to skills development for online tutors. We recently hosted
an e-Workshop on this topic, with over 100 participants from across the World.
There will be an e-Book published from the results of the workshop. An initial
draft is planned for August, with wider release some time after that. For
