Kudos to John Moore on his eminently sensible comments on modes of
instruction. It cannot be said often enough or loud enough that types of
instruction or information presentation do not constitute a zero-sum game.
Nothing needs eliminating, nothing becomes useless, and nothing is
sacrosanct when a new method becomes available. Steve Brookfield wrote one
line that should be at the forefront of every teacher's brain, "...judge
whether or not to use a particular method by the extent to which it helps
people learn."
