Well, there seems to be some tacit reasoning here, such as:
a) Joe Blow is a post-modernist (or physical scientist)
b) Post-modernists are basically skeptics (or physical scientists are
basically absolutists)
C) Therefore, Joe Blow is basically a skeptic (or physical scientist)
For visa versa, we can start from any point. Or,
a) Muhammad Betz understands the perspective of post-modernism
b) Muhammad Betz is basically a skeptic
c) Therefore, post-modernists are basically skepthics
I've found in the past that I have given individuals who are proponents of
post-modernism too much credit. I appreciate your suggestion that embracing
skepticism leads to tranquility, and that this conversion (and presumably
others) aren't very tranquil. I'm not sure the people who support
post-modernism are actually any more or less skeptical as individuals that
anyone else - they might to be more skeptical of skepticism. Indeed, the
day a post-modernist regularly and unequivocally admits that post-modernism
is his or her personal opinion for his or her own personal psychological
well-being, is the day he or she will get more buy in from me.
With appreciation of your gentle response,
- Prof. Nardi
