Greetings IFETSers,
As we are discussing about "Technology" and "Cyborgs", I thought, this
might also interest you.
Norbert Weiner, who had coined the term 'cybernetics' in 1948, first
applied the cyborg (a combination of "cybernetic" and "organism") to a
white lab rat modified at New York's Rockland State Hospital in the 1950s.
Weiner implanted an osmotic pump into the rat so that he could alter its
physiological parameters by injecting chemicals into its bloodstream at a
controlled rate.
