Overall Discussion Summary for the last several days:
1. Several posts include references and resources but do not provide
interpretation/opinion/challenge on what the references have to do with the
discussion topic. An open invitation to all: Please do read through one
or more of the references, and please provide your
opinion/interpretation/challenges as it relates to the discussion
topic. Some of these include:

2. The topic of narrative came up in the context of personal identity.
a. (See Kort 5/7/00 and my response 5/8/00) Some aspects of personal
identity formation may best be captured by the role of the narrative story.
b. (See Cooper 5/5/00 and my response 5/8/00) Cooper illustrates his
interaction and extension of intelligence with the computer, I interpreted
this as a narrative story feeding into identity formation.
3. The nature of literacy was explored in a few different ways.
a. (See Leamnson 5/7/00) understood literacy primarily as reading
and writing
b. (See Cooper 5/5/00) his description of accessing information on the
internet and its use in extending his intelligence may be interpreted as a
type of literacy. Although, this viewpoint is contestable.
4. The interesting topic on implants and superseding human capabilities
was continued along a new line of reasoning that examined technology
interfaces for disadvantaged persons to compensate for their loss of
sensory or intellectual capability. (See Betz 5/5/00)
