On the issue of Ethics..
In the Academe -January/February 2000 issue, Robert Bellah --a Elliott
Professor of Sociology Emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley,
and a co-author of "Habits of the Heart" (1985) and "The Good Society
(1992)..wrote an article on "The True Scholar. In his article, he expressed
some concerns on "Ethics" --In the Age of Money, self-interest dominates
the academy. But it may not explain how the world works. Perhaps it is the
time to reconnect scholarship to morality. He also expressed thoughts of
philosophers, Immanuel Kant, Plato and Aristotle & highly intelligent
philosopher, Alasdair MacIntyre on ethics.
