Hi, I would like to add some thoughts (with reference) to the on-going
discussion....
In the latest issue of *M/C -A Journal of Media and Culture* at
<http://www.api-network.com/mc/> -the importance of "culture" have been
discussed in details..especially, Warwick Mules in "Virtual Culture, Time
and Images: Beyond Representation" explores some of the issues involved in
thinking about a new cultural paradigm based on the photovisual/electronic
image, describing Heideggerian issue of Technology, Andrew Feenberg's
*Heidegger, Habermas and the Essence of Technology, Derrida's issues of
Grammatology, issues of Dialectical Images, *aura* of Walter Benjamin (His
work 'The Work of Art 222'), discussing the work of Gilles Deleuze and
Felix Guattari, and thoroughly discussed the issue regarding virtual
culture and the time of human presence. --Warwick Mules has also described
and criticised the transformation of culture currently taking place
through the accelerated uptake of new televisual, audiovisual and computer
