You are invited to attend

The Twelfth Annual
Utah State University
Instructional Technology Institute
"Promoting the Science of Instruction and the Technology of Instructional Design"

August 29 - September 1, 2000
Eccles Conference Center
Utah State University
Logan, Utah

See our web site for additional details: www.id2.usu.edu/itinstitute/

Purpose

Each year, the Utah State University Department of Instructional Technology expands
its technology horizons by hosting an internationally attended Instructional
Technology Institute. For the past eleven years a small but diverse group of persons
concerned with a variety of approaches to instruction have gathered in Logan, Utah,
to discuss recent developments in the diverse communities of instructional technology.
We have invited speakers representing some of the many communities involved in aspects
of instructional technology. The institute provides opportunities for these researchers
and practitioners to exchange knowledge and pursue joint research and business ventures.
We invite you to come and share your products or processes in a special show-and-tell
session. Past institutes have been provocative, challenging, and always stimulating.
This year promises to expand your horizons and perhaps introduce you to aspects of this
diverse field that you may not have previously considered. The institute includes meals,
entertainment, and time for significant interaction with other participants. We hope
you will join us.

Audience

Participants represent the various communities of instructional technology in
business, government, the training industry, authoring systems, academics, and
other areas. We will limit participation to about 100. We recommend that you register
early. One of the attractions of this conference is its size. There are many "fields"
of instructional technology. There is no one organization that brings these many
different providers of instructional technology and ID personnel together. We would
like the Institute to facilitate a dialog among these diverse communities.

Goals

The goals of this year's program:
To promote communication among the diverse producers of instructional technology.
To promote research that will more adequately address the needs of the training industry.
To promote communication among IT personnel producers, the training/education industry
and consumers of instructional technology products, tools, and services.
