I am recently an English prof, now Director of Distributed Learning. I am
struck by the problems associated with all assessment, because it is never
really clear to me what we are assessing. Critical thinking? Sets of
competencies? Outcomes? These are far more problematic than business
solutions and legislatures suggest, at times, they are.
