Greetings,
I am a doctoral student in the Dept. of Educational Psychology at the
University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. My area of research interest is
the use and evaluation of technology-based instructional environments that
promote constructivist and cognitively flexible ways of learning and
instruction. I favor evaluation approaches that support and portray the
qualitative features of learning with technology--the complexities and
irregularities, rather than merely quantifiable learner outcomes/test
scores.
My dissertation work is focused on the development and evaluation of a
hypertext-based instructional tool aimed at cognitively flexible
learning--more specifically, training child protection investigators in the
complex task of risk assessment(my Masters specialization is in Social Work
and hence the desire to bridge the disciplines of Social Work and
Educational Psychology!).
I would be interested in learning from members about their views on
evaluating technology-based learning and/or experience with evaluation
studies and issues emerging from them.
