As a new member to the forum, I would like to introduce myself. I teach in
the Social Work Program at Grant MacEwan Community College in Edmonton. I am
interested in IT & SW education and practice. Our college, like many
others, is in the process of experimenting with converting existing
curriculum to alternate/IT delivery. Over the next year, I will be exploring
the implications and possibilties for alternate delivery of social work/
"human services/helping professions" curriculum. Social work, like many
other helping professions, has been slow to integrate technology and
distance education, in part because of a fear of the impact of technology on
relationships ( both in practice and in teaching). My own bias, of course,
is that IT can assist and enhance both teaching and practice. I look
forward to participating and learning more about others' experience in the
forum!
