Dear Colleagues,

My name is Kit Arnett <office@ahrd.org> and I have been lurking on the
listserv
for a while watching the introductions and discussion.

I manage an academic association and I wanted to encourage any and all of you
on this list to submit a paper proposal for our 1999 Annual Conference in
March. We are particularly interested in expanding the scope of participation
with more papers on technology analysis and use in education and training,
papers from practitioners and those from the international community.

I apologize for interrupting discussion of Vladimir and Olga's paper, but the
proposal deadline is 1 October 1998 and I did not want to wait, in case
some of
you wanted to submit proposals.

We strongly encourage electronic submission, either as an attached word
processing document (please specify format) or in the body of an email.

Thanx for your patience.

The Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD) is a global organization made
up of, governed by, and created for the Human Resource Development (HRD)
scholarly community of academics and reflective practitioners. The Academy was
formed to encourage systematic study of human resource development theories,
processes, and practices, to disseminate information about HRD, to encourage
the application of HRD research findings, and to provide opportunities for
social interaction among individuals with scholarly and professional interests
in HRD from multiple disciplines and from across the globe.

Recently, the Academy has achieved solid growth and accomplishment for the
worldwide community of human resource development scholars and reflective
practitioners. We became co-owners of the "Human Resource Development
Quarterly: along with our partners Jossey-Bass Publishing and ASTD,
concluded a
contract to begin publishing "Human Resource Development International" with
Routledge Publishers in England and partnered with Berrett-Koehler Publishers,
Inc. to produce a new quarterly monograph series, "Advances in Developing
Human
Resources". In addition, the "Human Resource Development Research Handbook"
published by Berrett-Kohler is in production and has been well received in
both
the academic and practitioner communities.

Our annual conference will be held Wednesday, 3 March 1999 through Sunday, 7
March 1999 at the Sheraton National in Arlington, Virginia, a suburb of
Washington, D. C.

All scholars interested in HRD are invited to submit proposals for
consideration. The conference is attended by researchers and graduate students
from the areas of HRD, business, psychology, education, economics, sociology,
technology, and communication. In addition, HRD researchers and reflective
practitioners from business, industry, and governments participate fully in
the
conference.

Proposals will be blind reviewed and should be of new unpublished research.
Papers accepted for the conference program will be published in the conference
proceedings and may be published elsewhere following the conference.
