Hello,
Well, I suppose it is about time that I stopped lurking and got around to
introducing myself. My name is Antonia Palmer and I am an
exceptionally new novice to the area of ITS. I graduated last year from
the University of Waterloo in Ontario Canada with a degree in Political
Science of all things. In the last two years of my degree, I began
working on the internet and taking Information Technology/Multimedia
courses. Since September of 1997 I have been working with Dr. Tom Carey
as the Program Coordinator for the HCI + TeleLearning Laboratory here at
the University of Waterloo (http://hcitel.uwaterloo.ca).
I have a number of projects under my wing. I recently finished the final
version of a multimedia program that guides learners through developing
Critical Analysis skills within a cognitive apprenticeship learning
environment. I am also a co-designer of a visualization tool that allows
a designer to 'see' the instructional plan of their multimedia artifact
and the conversations that are taking place within it (paper to hopefully
be presented at the ICLS-98 conference this year). My other project
involves the creation of a tool that aids designers in their creation
of activities and tasks for computer applications.

My interests are focused on the following: 1. adaptable interfaces and
the interactions that the learner experiences within these environments,
2. progressive tools that aid designers in the development of educational
multimedia, and 3. the creation of educational multimedia for
constructivist learning.
I am looking forward to all future endeavors with this group,
