Greetings,

About myself: I have recently completed a Ph.D. in the sociology of
knowledge that focuses on the work of Karl Mannheim and Pierre Bourdieu.
Even more recently I have become interested in educational technology and
have begun doing some research in this area. I am particularly inspired by
the work of Seymour Papert, and am trying to think of ways in which his
approach to computers and learning could be extended to the social
sciences.

Regarding ITSs: I am wondering if it is possible to develop ITSs that
would be modelled on the notion of the teacher as guide and facilitator.
If it is, such systems could serve as valuable additions to
constructionist-style learning environments.

regards,

George Free
