Hello members,
My name is Peter van Waart. Educated as an educational =
scientist/researcher I am working now as projectmanager at AND =
Publishing Technology where educational software is developed.
One of the reasons I enjoy my job is the fact that I want to produce =
software which is adequate in supporting learning processes and which is =
easy to use for teachers and students (and transferring educational =
research outcomes and theories into practical software), BUT also have a =
commercial value (because my boss wants to ofcourse ). That means we =
have to make software a lot of users are willing to use in their =
learning and teaching.
I am working on several projects. One of them is an internet based =
electronic learning environment in which teachers (no matter what =
subject they teach) can create their own 'learning modules' mixing their =
own texts with resources (pictures, sounds, video, reference works) =
available on the server. They do not need any particular knowledge of =
HTML-authoring or what so ever. Students can access these modules =
finding their own selection of relevant modules.
This autumn we will have a large fieldtest and maybe I can announce any =
interesting outcomes of the test in this forum. In the mean time I will =
follow this forum seeking for user demands to meet.
Further more, my special interests:
- how to activate learners and support their learning skills in =
hypertext environments
- what pedagogical/teaching methods fits best in electronic learning =
environment
- what do teachers want and what not in educational software
- how to fill the gap between uniform approaches (in software systems) =
versus individual adaption (learning styles, motivation, level of =
knowledge and skills)
Looking forward to the discussions,
Best regards,
Peter van Waart
