Greetings,
I'm happy to participate in this project.
I work administratively at the University of Chicago School of Social
Service Administration (graduate social work school). While I am an
attorney by education, I am more involved in social work and serve in a
number of ways to bring technology uses (mostly internet) into the school.
I am interested in several areas related to this discussion;
1) Use of the internet in teaching,
2) Ways in which the internet effects traditional curriculum in this field.
3) How to use the distance learning possibilities to expand our continuing
education offerings to practitioners and
4) How to enhance the quality of the educational experience for students by
connecting them online to other students.
I have recently co-authored two books, The Nonprofit Internet Handbook and
the Social Worker's Internet Handbook. Both focus on applications of the
internet for professionals in these areas.
I have organized a number of educational discussions and seminars for
graduates, students, and faculty. I've done a number of workshops for
social workers who for the most part seem to lag in understanding how the
internet can be applied to their field. Hopefully that will change in the
comming years. :-)
I look forward to the discussion and hearing about others' experiences and
thoughts in these areas.
