I teach Training and Development at the Grad level and just finished a World Bank engagement
to "Train the Trainers", MBAs in Vietnam. The goal was to accelerate the use of business
methods into a free market transition. (I also did a Fulbright to Russia teaching management,
HR etc etc)

I think a chief difference from traditional classroom teaching is that in Training each
class has to be designed, delivered and evaluated against criteria relating to active
learning. Lots of exchange of scholarship, thinking and doing/little didactic lecture.

There is an useful series called Games Trainers Play which recognizes that. training is hard
work. And I am especially interested in computer supported collaborative learning. I am
happy to send you some of my selected articles and references.

A great publication is Fast Company, a bi monthly magazine and there are two professional
publications Training, and Training and Development. There are several good journals, my two
favorites are the Journal of Management Education, full of exercises, and Education + Training
(I think).

Let me know if I can help. It is my great passion to defend the role of training to all my
educator colleagues.

Respectfully,
Barb
