I recently applied for and (probably) will receive a new position with a
technology consulting firm as a "trainer". This firm has contracted with a
government agency to install and support software that manages huge amounts
of data. My question to all of you: Can I depend upon my background as a
classroom teacher to support this position? The first assignment will be to
"train", (teach) information specialists this new software they will be
installing. The software company will be training me and supplying me with
documentation, manuals and "user guides". I won't even have to make my own
manual, lessons, objectives, goals, et al. If you have suggestions of books
to read, places to go on the net to learn more about being a "trainer",
please let me know. I would like to establish a training department for
this company. Again, what else do I need to be aware of, other than the
plethora of idealogy and theory one must possess to be a teacher? Thanks
for your help and suggestions.
