Please note that the EDUCAUSE IMS Project has released its Metadata
Specifications on Friday, August 20th. The specs include three documents:

1. The IMS Learning Resource Metadata Information Model, which is is
fundamentally the version 3.5 IEEE LOM Scheme that IMS, Ariadne, and others
within IEEE LTSC have contributed to, plus some minor modiications to the
scheme identified during IMS technical reviews. The modifications will be
submitted to the LOM WG for discussion at the Sept. LTSC meeting.

2. IMS Learning Resource Metadata XML Binding - This includes an informative
DTD that supports the full IEEE LOM model plus the modifications discussed
above. It includes a normative XML representation as well as a number of
example xml records.

3. IMS Learning Resource Metadata Best Practices and Implementation Guide.
This document includes a number of recommendations and resources to help
developers create conforming applications and records. It includes, for
example, lists of common practice taxonomies and vocabularies for a variety
of fields found within the IEEE LOM, but for which no taxonomies and
vocabularies have been specified to date. This list of taxonomies and
vocabularies was developed through an extensive survey of the IMS community
facilitated by the Asian, Australian, UK, and US IMS Centres.

All of these document will be submitted to the IEEE LOM WG. Most, if not
all of the IMS orgranizations' representatives who participated in their
creation, are members of the IEEE LTSC LOM WG.
