Conference : Integrated & Holistic Perspectives on Learning,
Instruction & Technology
Date: 1-2 October 1999, 09.00 - 17.00
Place: Social Science Building, Fosswincklesgate 6, 9th floor,
University of Bergen, Bergen, NORWAY

Conference Overview:
The instructional design community is beginning to focus on issues
related to the integration of technology into learning environments,
especially those which are concerned not with discrete and disconnected
instructional units but with curricula which involve high level
understanding of problems and situations involving complex and dynamic
systems. This conference focuses on how technology might best be
integrated into learning environments which aim at holistic and systemic
understanding of complex problems. Active participation by all those
attending will be encouraged throughout, and opportunities for informal
get-togethers will be provided.

The presenters represent several groups which have been working together
informally for several years in the general area of instructional
technology. These groups include the Instructional Design Special
Interest Group of EARLI, the International Board of Standards for
Training, Performance and Instruction, the International Consortium for
Courseware Engineering, and the Structural Learning and Intelligent
Systems Special Interest Group of AERA.
