This comment is certainly true: "The significance of that fact is that even
the adult brain is an active organ constantly growing neural projections
and making new connections. It's not a "hard wired" structure, like a
computer, that must be used "as is."
I just learned of a paper (Coffey, July 13 issue of Neurology) that supports
what we already suspected; namely, that older adults who are mentally activive
can prolong mental deterioration and even dementia.
