Hello from Guy. It has taken a few days to get organized, but I now offer
to global distance-learning colleagues from GLD, DEOS-L, AEDNET, DLDC and
HMMEDIA, an opportunity to participate in the Escalator virtutal conference
learning experience which I use on NAUNet. I will also announce in a few
days how to log in to the WEBSTREAM portion.

Lori Couture has helped me set up Syllabus and Escalator assignment
instructions for you all, along with Course Conference Center and Learning
Models Library links, plus option to use the webstream discussion encodings
created last year. They allow a lateral learning process to occur as each
person performs two tasks, (1) draft a response to the assignment and post
it for others to read, and (2) read the work of as many others as possible,
giving feedback in ideas and data. This will become very clear as you go
through the exercises.

                  To sign up:
type in url http://jan.ucc.nau.edu/~caucus/nauovcc.html
print out caucus instructions
log in as new user
register a userid: use your first initial and full last name (all lower case)
create your own password (AND REMEMBER IT !)
reconfirm that password
complete fully the personal information page
go on to the Caucus center
click on LIST OF ALL CONFERENCES
scroll to Hum 392 Ss99, ROOM 10
click on the first YES to join the conference
---you will now have it in your personal conference list
bookmark the url "for easy return to freeway" (smile)
return to Rm 10, and in item one, read intro's and introduce yourself
click on syllabus and instructions; you may print them
you may click into student rooms 1,2,3 on the floorplan

PLEASE, only READ for the time being; we will interact with them later.
return to assignments, and get to work !!!

You do this by selecting an arts topic and region (perhaps where YOU are,
and going through the 12 steps --- which will help you (tongue in cheek)
recover from being a traditional academic !

A list of ideas for topics can be found in the essay, Applying the
Hexadigm, located in Bensusan Learning Models Library (link in the intro to
Hum 382 Ss99 ROOM 10 homepage).

Initially, I intended to open one room for global profs, but have had so
many inquiries that I will expand the spaces to perhaps one hundred
participants. Five are already in today by 10 AM, so I suggest prompt action.

I am most excited about what we all may learn from this. Guy
