Andragogy/Pedagogy

Tasos, and all --
My previous reference to Andragogy/Pedagogy,
recently cited here by Susan Osborn:
Glenn asked <Perhaps that injury (distance learning must be "pedagogically
sound"
and therefore, erroneously, quite expensive) could be cured by
referencing distance learning back to the principles of andragogy. How
well does Malcolm Knowles' construct lend it to this remedy?>
...is prompted by two factors...
First, that the mantle of "pedagogically sound" must require expensive
operations for Distance Learning is misused by academic politicians to further
institutional interests at the expense of users and providers. Second, it will
be vital to distinguish in such a political discussion that the differences can
be sharp, substantial and critical. So, the respective labels "pedagogy" or
"andragogy" are critical for a successful exchange of political concepts in
this challenge.
