POSITION: VP of Product Development, Consulting Services and
Instructional Design

REPORTS TO: CEO

DIRECTS: Product Development, Custom Projects, and Quality Management

SALARY: Salary + incentive package = $=80,000+; possible equity shares
for right candidate

MISSION: Manage internal product development to ensure high quality
deliverables. Lead custom design and development efforts on external
client projects.

BACKGROUND:

The Training Place provides self-paced interactive corporate training
delivered via the World Wide Web. The company is a leading developer of
soft skills online training in a start-up, entrepreneurial environment.
The company is one of the early providers of soft skills training online
and management is looking to capitalize on this product leadership by
adding an experienced instructional designer to our team.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Product Development

- Develop consistent look and feel to company's product offerings.
- Responsible for building upon company efforts to date in creating
effective learning designs for the online delivery of web-based,
asynchronous, soft skills professional development courses.
- Participate and provide oversight in the design of the company's
online courses in conjunction with the company's team of content
developer's and course authors.
- Work to identify areas to upgrade or improve the company's SQL
database back-end for course authoring, course delivery and course
administration.

Consulting Projects

- Design formal approach for the development of custom online learning
projects
- Work with customers and product development to determine viability of
potential projects
- Review materials provided by customers to determine feasibility of
opportunities
- Provide necessary inputs to product development to ensure successful
implementation of projects
- Participate in the development of custom development strategies that
align with corporate goals

QUALIFICATIONS

- A degree in instructional design or related field is required and at
least four years of proven experience with multimedia, CD-ROM, and/or
Web-based instructional programs.
- Knowledge and expertise in on-line course production in corporate
training setting.
- MBA or master's degree in instructional design (or a related field) a
plus.
- Experience in the application of effective learning in a Web-based
learning environment a plus.
- Ability to manage the development cycle over multiple projects at one
time.
- Comfortable with joining a fast-paced, team-oriented, early stage
environment.
