I think that Information Age means “facing complexity” and the problem is :
are we using the adecuate tools, models, theories to deal with complexity?
Is “Cognitive Design” “Instructional Design”, “Learning Design” based in a
transdisciplinar conceptual platform which make possible the broad approach
necessary to undertake the complex problemas that the society (the global
society, of course ) must urgently solve ?
The answer is NO. We must make, very fast, the necessary changes in the
“cognitive desing” “learning design” that the information revolution
demands.
In concrete terms this means to me:
Design based on:
Guidence and feedback to the learner, as Dr. Duchastel points out.
The use of the two brain hemispheres.
The importance of the affective and cognitive dimensions of the human
intelligence.
A global (open-flexible) dinamic of human knowledge oriented to the creative
and productive aspects or solutions involved in the learning process.
A multimedia enviroment
And the contextualization of the learning process – social and knowledge
networks.

I totally agree with Dr. Duchastel in considering that “Goals, testing,
reminders are all very secondary to learning (yikes!) in that they deal with
the formalities of the bureaucracy rather than with skill or knowledge
building”
I consider more adecuate to talk about “KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT”
rather than ID.
