the guidelines posted by Martin (below) are very well done. I briefly
searched the site and could not find the equivalent for standard
academic programs- a set of guidelines with the same rigour and
attention to detail. I may have missed it.
My question is whether or not distance education is being held to a more
rigorous, not necessarily higher, standard than traditonal institutional
delivery, not just in the UK but in other countries as well.
The question has arisen because one of the leading certifying
organizations in the US, the NCA, has just received criticism from
several directions for certifying a virtual university.
Can conventional institutions hold the same mirror to themselves?
thoughts?
