Glenn Ralston said,
<<* Also, it seems that 5 or 6 of these most prominent young leaders in the
industry [Gates, Jobs, Dell, Waite, Ellison, Wozniak] are college dropouts?
* Does that tell us anything about a college's role with info tech today?>>
Success in business, info tech or otherwise, requires, among other things, a
strong orientation to immediate action, risk taking, and the ability to
enjoy and thrive in an unstructured environment.
In much of higher education, we praise the student for highly structured,
orthographically precise, laboriously researched, deeply pondered,
responses.
A person does well survive the academic process with some entrepreneurial
vigor left. Maybe this is good, for if we only turned out zealous,
intuitive, fly-by-night entrepreneurs then who would implement their dreams.
