In a number of virtual institutions the courses are deconstructed-
texts, lectures, lessons and other materials are prepared by a team. The
delivery or work with students is in the hands of others and the
evaluation is in the hands of a third party
In some institutions, 30+% of the budget for education is allocated to
providing faculty training
In some institutions, there are roving faculty members who are
technology savvy who work with the rest of the faculty
Additionally, commercial interests from publishers to private developers
are providing many of the virtual delivery vehicles as purchasable,
leasable or rentable
All of this seems to point to a changing organization of the post
secondary market- the roll of faculty, tech support staff, resources,
etc are all being interwoven and differentiated in new ways
thoughts?
