Dear all,

I just wanted to give a short reaction on the issue 'technology and
higher education'. Especially on the second question: what will the
competition look like for delivering content and certification?
This strucks me as very narrow look on university. It seems that
universities are here merely institutions that deliver content and
ceritficate.
Indeed it is a fact that this becomes clear with all technology and
with the possibility to do some 'course shopping'. But is it then not
time to put this in question? Maybe teachers at university level or
higher education in general should look for another approach to
teaching and start from the learner. I could imagine then that
different universities attract different students and that it is not a
competition, but that each university tries to 'connect' with their
students and looks further then merely content transmission.

This was just a short reaction as this struck me after the
discussion about constructivist learning..
