Subject: [IFETS-DISCUSS] Radio as the Learning Bridge

Dear Friends
Greetings to you all and welcome to the IFETS-DISCUSSION.

The topic for this discussion purports to highlight the role of radio in acting as a learning bridge. As you are aware that Radio has been found to reappear in the educational scenario in its new avatar in various countries and the strengthening of transmitter network has made FM radio popular because it offers not only programmes of social, and entertainment, but also educational value. FM radio has been put to teaching and learning in developed countries and developing countries as well.

We may like to find out how the radio is being adopted for educational purposes in different parts of the continents? Please share your experiences so that at the end of the discussion, we shall be able to summarise the chief points and a status report could come out.
We may discuss how the licensing policies of the governments are affecting the growth of FM radio, to what extent the educational institutions are allowed to operate the radio channels.
What are the social, cultural and educational objectives of radio.
