In reply to Bronwyn Hegarty,
All students are assigned working groups at the beginning
of each course and the syllabus states what each group is
responsible for in each module. Each module has a WebQuest,
Takes and Responses to Takes.
The WebQuests are done as a small team assignment with one
person summarizing the results to the whole class and
another person acting as the moderator while the work is
planned and researched using a Chat room tool. The team
decides who does what, but in the instructions I've
encouraged students to take on a role they haven't tried
before.
Takes are also done in small groups for each module, but
each student in the group must critique a separate reading.
These Takes are worth a considerable percentage of their
marks so students prefer to do their own.
Yes results are currently archived. The instructor
currently uses previous student "Takes" on readings as
examples of what she requires and we will use the best
websites as part of our online resources section.
We did a pilot where half the modules were online and half
were face to face. Two-thirds of the students preferred the
online because they participated more actively online.

What matters most is not the moment when the student uses
the technology, but how that use promotes improvement in
that student's education. - S. Ehrmann
