Essam,

What I have found from my research in virtual organizations, a person
can feel isolated or not depending on their degree of introvertedness,
and depending on their culture.
What we found was that Australians, as a group, have no difficulty
working virtually as either a student or a worker since they are so
isolated anyway. There are only about 20 universities in the entire
country, so many students are virtual students and they operate in this
environment very well. In Mexico, on the other hand, the culture is one
of personal interaction. A person in Mexico wants to see with whom they
are doing business, look at them eyeball-to-eyeball, hug them, have
meals with them, etc. They do not feel comfortable operating in a
virtual environment. They want to touch and feel.
I am not aware of any measures that would take into account all these
variables. Myers-Briggs might be a start, but it is not the definitive
answer.
