I believe the birth of learning science
is as certain as a cloned human. I am just not sure about where it would
take us. If Intelligent Tutor could replace teachers, why would not replace
students? My question is how do we keep the balance between science and
humanity?

In my experience intelligent tutors are excellent learning experiences for
those who develop them, and tend to be less effective for learning complex
advanced knowledge acquisition topics. Just like using programmed
instruction, learning facts and simple procedures can be done fairly
efficiently, but most of the knowledge ends up being inert, not connected to
the learners larger experience of his/her world. I am not worried about the
balance because science is still a long way off from human teaching and
learning.
