hi;
as an instructional designer i am still trying to find out following
questions' answers;
1) who is online instructor
2) what are the basic competencies
3) what does online classroom managemet mean?
i am asking all of these questions because i couldn't find satisfactory
answers.. i am not talking about conferencing tutor/instructor when i say
online instructor.. conferencing and other synchronous tools are the the
tools for online/web based/supported medium.. so, what are the basic
competencies to become an online instructor/facilitator.. until now, we have
disscussed theoreticaly and enough words to say but it is time to describe;
1) how do i implement these theories into educational settings..
2) how do i integrate new materials into our curricula..
3) is there enough rooms to use these new strategies..
we are still discussing the new paradigm (digital age) by using our old
paradigms.. this is new and not similar to the old one.. just convereting
lecture notes from paper into digital form is enough? makes that instructor
online one? we still discussing interactivity what does this term mean? is
there a single pill to thread all of the diseases? if we are aggree on
constructivist definition of learning how can we produce one interactivity
for all.. i think, we have to wake up now, and notice that this is a new
medium and it has its own natives, materials, methods. and stop thinking in
the light of the past paradigms.. it is new, multitasking, multithread and
multiprocessed environment, we can not produce materails and methods using
single processed, linear ways.. we have find out solution very quickly
(running examples) because the divide between the digital natives and the
analogs is growing.. in near furure, it will be to late.. then, may be we
will cause the new society composed of digital natives (including
immigrants) and analog slaves.. now, as a practioners, i want to learn "who
is online instructor and what makes normal instructor to become
online(competencies, i.e is it necessary to have 10 fingers typing skills?)
and lastly, how can i manage my online classroom (including chat,
videoconferencing).. how can i organise forum threads and help my students
to use/communicate with these tools.. i am full with the theories, now i am
after practical solutions .... thanks,
