Hello Bill,

I have considered your points carefully however I am not yet really
convinced that statement nine needs significant change - though the
challenges from yourself and Stephen have been very coherent.

I want to emphasise the word "education" in statement nine which appears
rather than the word "learning". Perhaps if we change the term "curriculum"
to "stated learning objectives" and add reference to encouraging
opportunities for serendipity...? My major contention is that attitudinal
and affective learning are not suddenly made possible because we have
eLearning tools in our pedagogical arsenal. They have always been possible
in conventional forms of learning and so the overall opportunity is not
unique to eLearning. To me it comes down to how we use the tools and the
overall course design and delivery decisions we make when applying eLearning
tools.

I do like your rewording however I am uncomfortable with the underlying
assumption that eLearning has "profound implications". This is a
generalization. Perhaps "profound potential" might be more realistic? That
way responsibility for the 'profoundness' that results from eLearning rests
on the educator using the tools and not the tools themselves.

I encourage you to keep hammering at this one as it is clearly the statement
that requires the most rework.

Thanks,

Mark.
