Tony regarding your message (see below).

as for your information noted about

in textbooks? How would Newton do that in your classroom?

Tony
That is a very good point of information. I am not sure about a major part of
Newton's background but it possibly was due to that

(1) He challenged himself to explore, be curious and notice the unusual. Many
students do not do this . They don't know how to explore their own mind.
There is a certain amount of incubation and wandering in thought to connect,
but unfortunetly, many students use "wandering" to digress and not to put
ideas together. Many students are not "warriors." They give up when the going
gets tough. They expect things to pop into their heads and "to be there."

(2) He was observent and this was part of his education but more importantly
, could "making connections." He did this with Calculus, his Newton's Laws
to explain celestial events and more. Too many students today are taught to
"find the right answers."

(3) for the most part they were lectured to. I doubt that he had a lot of
texts to read.

(4) He seems to think in analogies and explain things in different ways. Most
students are not taught to do this.

(5) He also seemed to tinker with many intelligence modes (kinesthetic,
linguistic etc).

Things for stimulating this discussion.
